What's On

Norland Nursery invites external specialists to run regular sessions with the children of the nursery helping with their development, confidence and learning whilst having great fun. Below is a list of the visitors we have on a regular basis. Due to Norland Nursery's free flow structure all of these sessions are open to all of our children who can choose when and for how long they join in for.
In addition to the learning and fun that takes place inside Norland Nursery, we make the most of learning opportunities within the local community. Here are some of the trips that take place at Norland Nursery.

The Musical Tree House

The Musical Tree House provides colourful and energetic lessons delivered by trained music specialists.  Great for both boys and girls alike, these are classes in which creativity and musical abilities thrive.

Lessons include dance & whole body movement, instrument sessions using beautiful hand-crafted, ethnic instruments encouraging children to celebrate the music of other cultures and singing and action songs.   Their dance and music specialists offer children space and encouragement in order to grow and progress at a pace that suits each individual child.  Even the tiniest ears can absorb musical concepts and with familiarisation they begin their journey with music which we hope will last them a lifetime.

Bath Rugby Up and Unders

Members of the Bath Rugby Community Foundationteam run 45 minute sessions at the nursery using rugby skill-based games to help with childrens motor, learning and social skills including; coordination, balance, spatial awareness, knowledge of colours, numbers and shapes, sharing and listening, as well as introductory rugby skills; passing, catching and kicking.

Yoga Bugs Sessions

Yoga Bugs is specifically designed for younger children and makes traditional yoga postures into exciting adventures. Children fly on mystical birds, float on magic carpets, ride space shuttles to the moon and play football with crabs on the beach!

These sessions are not only great fun for the children but also help them to explore their own body awareness, capture their imagination and help improve their confidence.

Bath Library Trips

Children at Norland Nursery have been taking trips in small groups to Bath Central Library to ‘Sing, Rhyme and Sign’ sessions.

These are special sessions for children under three which help them to explore music and song with rhymes.

Local Walks

We are lucky enough to be located in one of the most beautiful cities in the UK. We make the most of this by taking groups of children on walks around the city to discover the wonderful environment on our doorstep. This includes looking at the architecture, learning about the different road signs, marvelling at any roadworks(!) and exploring anything else that takes our interest!

These trips help to extend the children’s interests and help them to learn about what is happening in their local area.

Visits to the local green grocers

We think that it is important to get children interested in the food that they eat and learn about how it gets to our plates. As part of our development in this area we have been taking groups of children to the local green grocers to collect the fruit they will eat for their snacks.

The children can then, if they wish, watch the fruit being prepared in the kitchen, from the safety of the viewing ramp in our creative room, before sitting down to enjoy it!

Trips to the Egg Theatre

The Egg is Bath Theatre Royal's award-winning theatre especially for children and young people. Children from Norland Nursery have been visiting the Egg Theatre for storytelling sessions, the latest of which was Jackanory Live with ‘Tim Tit Tot’ - a story based on Rumplestiltskin using a mix of puppetry and storytelling.

To make it even more of an adventure the staff and children made their way to the theatre on the bus!
